Assessment of poverty dynamics based on the Permanent Demographic Sample (EDP)

DYPAUVR
The study will firstly provide deep knowledge on patterns of living standards and poverty dynamics at an extremely accurate geographical scale: comparison of poverty dynamics depending on the territories, contextualization of the situation according to the local economic situation, impact of residential mobility. Secondly, the size of the EDP panel allows a detailed characterization of lasting poverty cases and movements within this category. The project will thus enlighten the social contexts of persisting poverty and will provide elements to build indicators measuring this state of impoverishment. Thirdly, the study will take advantage of EDP and thus gain a better insight into the mechanisms of how some people fall into permanent financial poverty through career paths, family life and housing trajectories. By focusing on retired individuals experiencing persistent poverty between 2010 and 2016, the study will try to understand irreversible poverty mechanisms.
