Labour Market Consequences of Motherhood

LAMACOM
The LMCM project is a joint DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) and ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) grant project. The project has two main goals: 1. to demonstrate and document the feasibility of using German (from the SIAB Panel analyzed by IAB researchers) and French social security data for comparative research and 2. to analyze the differences in maternity-related wage penalties in the two countries, and to conduct comparative studies on mechanisms associated with the differences between these two countries. This project is financed for three years and we intend to analyze patterns for employment, occupation and also the companies which employ mothers, and to compare these to other populations. We also plan to analyze the contribution of human capital depreciation and company effects on wage penalties incurred by mothers in both countries.
