The impact of weather on worker preferences

COMETEO
The goal of this project is to identify whether occupational preferences change due to the weather. Hot weather is known to increase injuries and decrease wages, with larger effects on workers in more exposed jobs. However, less is known about the labor supply effects of hot weather. There is a need to understand whether hot weather drives people to try to switch out of jobs which are more exposed, and whether they succeed in doing so. The findings from this study could have implications for climate change’s impact on inequality in our labor markets.
