The impact of climatic hazards on the financial vulnerability of farmers in mainland France

ALVUFIN
Agriculture is particularly exposed to climatic hazards and the effects of climate change are already visible in France today. The purpose of this project is to measure the unknown consequences of climatic hazards on the financial situation of farmers (income, debts) in mainaland France as well as on their financial choices to react and adapt to these events. Indeed, the impact of climatic hazards on the financial situation of farmers depends on the cover taken out by the farmer against the risk of damage to crops and livestock (agricultural disaster regime, national or European aid, subsidized insurance policies such as crop insurance or grassland insurance, unsubsidized policies such as turnover insurance against climatic risks). Farmers can therefore adapt and change their insurance and credit behavior following or in anticipation of climatic events.
