Impact of pension reforms on health care expenditure

RETSOIN
The pension reforms implemented in France were undertaken with the aim of increasing the retirement age, in order to improve the financial sustainability of the pension system. While this objective seems to have been achieved, little is known about the impact this has had on the health and care of retirees. For example, it is unknown whether these reforms have resulted in modified health insurance expenditure. The objective of this study is to investigate the causal effect of pension reforms in France on healthcare consumption. It also aims to identify the role of socio-economic factors in this causal effect. The interest of this study is to provide additional insight into the consequences of an increase in career length, both from the perspectives of public finance and social justice.
