Intergenrational mobility of immigrants

GENIMMI
The objective of this project is to study the social mobility of children of immigrants. In particular, it looks at the influence of the social background of their family (prior to migration) on their success in France. Many first-generation immigratns experience a professional and social downgrading when they emigrate. Their job in France is not necessarily a good measure of their social status. Tracing family history over three generations, before and after migration, allows us to better understand the intergenrational mobility of immigrants and to compare it with that of native-born people.
