Cardiovascular and metabolic effects of long-term exposure to air pollution and green spaces: a longitudinal analysis of the French CONSTANCES cohort

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the main type of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and the leading cause of premature death globally. Although social and behavioral determinants are usually put forward as modifiable risk for CVDs, environmental factors are emerging as key targets to reduce the burden of NCDs. This project has five main objectives: 1) to develop maps to assess exposure for noise, artificial light at night (ALAN) and finer greenspace indicators; 2) to investigate the associations between each environmental exposure (air pollution, noise, ALAN and greenspace) separately and cardiovascular health and CVDs; 3) to study the mediating role of the ideal cardiovascular health score in the associations between each environmental exposure and CVDs; 4) to examine the joint effect of all these environmental factors on cardiovascular health and CVDs; 5) to explore the role of sociodemographic and socioeconomical factors on these associations.
