Socioeconomic characteristics of cancer diagnosis in Corsica

The report (Santé Publique France, 2019) documents spatial heterogeneity in cancer, which is more pronounced in terms of mortality than in terms of incidence. Consequently, there is less inter-regional variability in the likelihood of cancer incidence than in mortality rates. This heterogeneity could be attributed to delayed diagnosis. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of socioeconomic characteristics on the stage of the disease at the time of diagnosis, focusing on the case of Corsica. Our findings will inform screening policies by targeting municipalities where diagnosis tends to occur at a later stage.
