Higher education and research data on CASD

Since 2020, the ministerial statistical service for higher education and research, SIES, has regularly made its sources available to the research community via CASD.

Today, 26 sources are available, including feedback from the Parcoursup (formerly APB) applications, the various SISE databases on enrolments and diplomas in the various higher education establishments, the 15 annual editions of the survey on the resources devoted to research and development (R&D) in companies and its researcher component, as well as a number of surveys for tracking study paths or entry into working life.

The projects using these sources can be divided into two main blocks. 70 projects use the annual business R&D survey, with or without its researcher component, for questions on investment in research, innovation, business performance and competitiveness, mostly in conjunction with data from INSEE and DGFIP.

There are also a large number of current projects (45) focusing on access to higher education for baccalaureate holders, as well as on orientation, reorientation and repeat studies, many of which take advantage of the CASD’s ability to use SIES sources in conjunction with those of INSEE.

Widely used by universities throughout France, SIES data accessible remotely via CASD also attracts researchers from research centers in many other countries.
