Data description

The themes focus on investments (hardware entirely dedicated to environmental protection, purchases of production facilities more efficient in terms of environmental issues...), studies (regulatory or investment-related) and current expenditure (collected every 3 years), destined for environmental protection.

This expenditure is allocated according to the areas concerned:
- Waste water
- Air protection
- Limiting greenhouse gas emissions
- Wastes
- Noises and vibrations
- Soils; ground and surface water
- Sites, landscapes and biodiversity
- Other fields

Sector coverage

The establishments belong to divisions 05 to 35 of NAF rev. 2.

Statistical unit

The interrogation unit is the establishment, identified by its SIRET number.

    Statistical population

    These are industrial establishments with 20 or more employees, belonging to sections B, C, D of NAF rev.2.

    The sample is in the order of 11,000 units (divided into 9,000 on the field excluding LPN and sawmills, 2,000 on the field LPN and sawmills).

    Reference period

    • the amounts of studies and investments are those carried out during the last financial year ended in 2016,
    • the establishment's workforce is the same as at 31/12/2016,
    • the information concerning the classification/certification of the establishment concerns the year 2016 (INSTCLAS, AUTORIS, ISO, ENVOIE, AUT_CERTIF, EFF_ENV, SERV1),
    • the rest of the qualitative data --General information part of the questionnaire-- relates to the company's situation at the time of responding to the survey (June to October 2017).


      Comparability

      The scope of the survey was narrowed compared to the 2014 edition which also included the legal units of divisions 38 (Waste collection, treatment and disposal; recovery) and 39 (Pollution control and other waste management services).
      Note that data for the waste management sector (divisions 38 and 39) were disseminated separately.
      No difference with 2015.
