Analysis on the link between fragmentation of plots and technical-economic and energy performance of dairy cattle farms

This project aims to describe the configuration of the plot map of dairy cattle farms in France, its evolution between 2010 and 2020, and to explore its link with technical, economic and energy performance indicators. The fragmentation of plots and access to pastures are key elements at the heart of the economic, environmental, and social challenges of the dairy sector. Using data from the cadastral registry and the agricultural census, this project will characterize the diversity of dairy farms' land and to study how, in parallel with their observed expansion, this has changed qualitatively between 2010 and 2020. Firstly, a summary of the observed trends over 10 years will be produced by region, farm size and signs of quality. Then, an analysis will be carried out on the link between fragmentation of plots and technical-economic and energy performance indicators.
