The scientific literature shows that non-standard work schedules (NSWS) are increasingly common and appear to be a major dererminant of mental health, but the social mechanisms explaining gender differences by type of schedule remain largely unknown. Following on from the ANR Worklif project (2020-2024), EqualHealth (AAPG 2024) compares the effects of non-standard work schedules on mental health over the life course in several European countries (France, Sweden and the United Knogdom). The objectives of the project are to:
- measure the prevalence of mental disorders by type of NSWS, duration of exposure, and gender in the working population on the three countries
- identify the social mechanisms of transmission between non-standard work schedules and mental health in the professional, family and public spheres
- analyze workers' adaptive strategies based on their subjective experience of mental health.
