Education in prisons and prisoner trajectories : an econometric and experimental analysis

CARCERE
This project tackles part in a doctoral thesis in economics, which aims to determine the factors influencing the trajectories of people incarcerated in France, focusing in particular on prisoners’ educational choices, the internal dynamics of prisons, and post-release behavior. The study adopts two complementary approaches: An econometric analysis that aims to exploit the data in the file to assess the relationships between attending an educational program and recidivism/reiteration behavior. An experimental approach, which consists of modeling inmates’ choicies, supported by experiments and qualitative field surveys.
