Cesdip is conducting a research project on fear of crime and victimisation, structured around three main axes. The first aims to measure their long-term evolution: the series established by Cesdip since 1984 is based on successive surveys (CESDIP, EPCV, CVS, IPR, SPIP). The data from the new VRS survey are essential to extend this series. The second axis explores the structures of fear of crime and victimisation, by analysing the interactions between offences, worry about crime, crime concern, territorial perceptions, and social disorder. The large VRS sample offers unprecedented opportunities in this area, particularly for geosocial analyses. Finally, the third axis focuses on the measurement instruments themselves. After working to ensure continuity between EPCV and CVS, Cesdip is now working to link CVS data to the new VRS data, a task that requires full access to the latter.
