More than half of the World’s population is already living in urban areas (in 2014, 48% in the less developed regions, and 78% in the more developed countries), and this proportion is continuously increasing. Urbanization leads to diminished human contact with the natural environment. While consensus is growing on the health benefits of green spaces, the effect on cancer is still poorly known. The main objective of our project is to study the association between proximity to greenspace and characteristics of greenspaces (tree surface, accessibility, amenities…) and the risk of cancer, mainly breast, prostate and colorectal cancers.
