Intergenerational inequalities and taxation in France

ININTER
This project intends to provide a picture of the inter-generational dimension of inequalities in France, and to develop a quantitative economic model to examine the extent to which tax instruments can effectively reduce inter-generational inequalities. The first part of the project will describe inter-generational inequalities in France in terms of income, wealth, mortality, and access to education and professional training. An essential aspect of this analysis will be to describe changes in inter-generational inequalities over time and their disparities from one region to another. The second part of the project will develop a new model of optimal taxation in which redistribution preferences focus solely on the inter-generational dimension of inequalities. We will then assess this model structurally.
