Productivity of the electricity sector

PROELEC
The Académie of Technologies is undertaking a study investigating the deceleration of productivity gains. The aim is to provide an engineer's perspective on this issue, providing an analysis which complements the economists' approach. This study begins in the 1980s with the electricity sector and consists of calculating the following indicator of productivity per capita: MWh/number of employees in the electricity sector. Once calculated, the aim is to calculate this indicator over time and provide explanations by focusing on the impact of the technologies implemented, in their economic and regulatory environments. This productivity indicator will also be crossed with other indicators (production, consumption, prices, etc.). Access to the workforce in the electricity sector is essential: without this data, it is impossible to calculate the number of MWh produced per employee. Calculation of this ratio is key to the whole project.
