MOTEURS
The MOTEURS project aims to understand the effects of technical and economic developments in the automobile industry (electric or hybrid vehicles, leasing) on households, particularly those who have low incomes. It includes an ethnographic component focusing on household practices regarding the purchase, resale, and maintenance (partly domestic) of inexpensive and often older used vehicles. This work is accompanied by a quantitative treatment to objectify the evolution of household automobile expenditure (purchase, maintenance, parts), their DIY practices, but also the role of family resources (close mechanics, drivers, etc.) likely to provide resources to drive these vehicles. Finally, the analysis of registrations and the vehicle fleet of these vehicles, 15 years old and older, will allow us to understand their social and territorial distribution as well as the different phases of their life cycle.
