Agri-environmental measures (MAE) are aids granted to farmers who commit to adopting environmentally friendly farming techniques beyond the legal obligations. They form one of the essential components of the second pillar of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). MAE RDR1 data concern the beneficiaries and payments of these aids between 2000 and 2006, a period which corresponds to the first programmed application of the European Rural Development Regulation (RDR1). The data provide information on all actions of the agro-environmental measures engaged, at a certain date, both per beneficiary farms and per local area.
