The Health, Health Care and Insurance Survey - SNDS-GrandsPostes source is based on the matching of data from the IRDES Health and Social Protection Survey (ESPS) with data on health care consumption from the SNDS, grouped per main items. The ESPS is the reference survey on health, access to care and health coverage in France. Since 1988, it has collected data on health status, health coverage, social context and health care use, aiming to study the links between health status, access to health services, access to public and private health insurance and individual characteristics of respondents, socioeconomic status in particular. The health care consumption data presented in the SNDS are national data, the objectives of which are to contribute to better management of the Health Insurance system and health care policies, to improve the quality of care and to provide health care professionals with relevant information on their activity. Cross-referencing this information makes it possible to conduct analyses on the degree of equity of the health system and to inform public action by participating in the assessment of public policies, such as questions on the complementary universal health coverage (CMU-C), medical deductibles, and the designated general practitioner.
