This research project focuses on the salary mobility of workers earning at or near the minimum wage (SMIC), particularly in low-skilled sectors. It aims to determine whether the SMIC - in relation with the tax-benefit system - promotes professional integration and upward salary mobility, or if it contributes to a "low-wage trap." The study explores the complex dynamics between low wages, social and fiscal aids, and career mobility. At a granular level, the project examines individual factors (worker characteristics, salary, aids received) and company characteristics (aids received, size, productivity). This analysis aims to better understand the underlying mechanisms that influence the concentration of jobs at the bottom of the salary scale and mobility to/from these positions.
