Exploring the roles and effects of private schools in France

REPRIVE
The aim of RePrive is to analyse the unprecedented role played by the private sector in French secondary and higher education systems, and to understand its effects on schooling conditions, educational segregation, and the educational pathways of pupils and students. The project will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the rise of the private sector and the transformation of public/private relations, while focusing on key moments in schooling. It thus addresses several major objectives : Taking stock of the demographic and morphological specificities of private education and its differences from public education, from secondary to higher education, studying the effects of reforms to the vocational baccalaureate, the (general) secondary school system and Parcoursup on enrolment in private secondary education and understanding the historical growth of private higher education by combining a study of the range of courses on offer with an analysis of the logic behind educational choices.
