The SREN Act promotes access to administrative data for research purposes

An amendment to the SREN law (securing and regulating the digital space) was adopted during the parliamentary session on the initiative of Marc Ferracci, a member of the French National Assembly, to promote access to administrative data for research purposes. The amendment states that when :

– a search request involves the interconnection of several databases (Editor’s note: matching),
– or that the administration concerned intends to refuse to grant it,

the latter refers the matter to the Statistical Confidentiality Committee prior to its decision. It is represented before the committee during the examination of the opinion.

This amendment modifies article L311-8 of the Code des relations entre le public et l’administration.
