Data description

The FLV survey aims to measure on the one hand the access of adults to training, according to the concepts defined at European level of formal training, non-formal training and informal learning, and on the other hand the skills of adults in writing and numeracy in everyday situations.

It also includes a rich set of socio-demographic information (age, sex, diploma, detailed situation on the labor market, etc.), as well as information on the languages spoken and geographical origins.

More specifically, the "training" part of the survey makes it possible to measure participation in training activities according to the profile of the people, to characterize, where applicable, the training courses followed (level, field, duration, etc.), to know the reasons for participation, the situation of people when they start training, sources of financing and the "gains" derived from training.

Other topics covered are access to information on training opportunities, knowledge of rights and obstacles encountered in access to training.

The "skills" part comprises two modules.

The "Daily Life Skills" module aims to assess adults' skills in reading, comprehension, writing and numeracy in everyday life situations. The main challenge of this module is to measure situations of illiteracy.

The "Internet Use" module aims to assess Internet use in daily life processes.
