CAPTerre - Trade-offs in Agriculture for Sustainable Territories

CAPTERR
The CAPTerre project aims at contributing to the challenges of food and energy self-sufficiency in the French Overseas Regions and Departments (DROM) through agriculture. These challenges are particularly critical in the islands because of their geographical remoteness. Achieving greater self-sufficiency requires shifting from a linear to circular economy. These issues are directly linked to the implementation of European strategic guidelines and national plans for the French overseas departments, such as the agricultural section of the circular economy roadmap and the regional biomass plan piloted by the Regional Councils. Moving towards a more circular economy means identifying trade-offs between the multiple uses for food, agriculture and energy of the biomass produced in the regions. These trade-offs will be identified by accounting for inter-sector flows within the French overseas departments and considering the consequences in terms of import and export flows (customs).
