The French seafood industry relies on a strong interdependence between the various actors in the value chain, in particular producers and primary buyers such as wholesalers, processors and fishmongers. Any fluctuation in production, whether due to environmental, regulatory or economic constraints, has a direct impact on the entire sector. This interdependence is further emphasized by France's significant involvement in international trade within the seafood market. In 2020, imports amounted to €5.55 billion, while exports reached €1.44 billion, highlighting a significant trade deficit. The exposure of the domestic market to external dynamics varies depending on the species involved. This study aims to analyze these dynamics by identifying supply markets, distribution channels and buyer behavior for strategic species. Such an analysis will facilitate the assessment of trade flows and the anticipation of industry developments in an increasingly competitive global context.
