« ADEME » is launching a study with « DGITM » in order to: • assess the current state of air freight in France, • develop a forward-looking analysis of trends in this market, • identify and evaluate the main constraints and factors likely to influence the growth of this market. A better understanding of air freight is necessary in order to address a number of challenges: • Air transport is very carbon-intensive compared to other modes of transport, among other environmental effects, including non-climatic ones. • The growth of e-commerce is introducing significant multiplier effects that have not yet been fully assessed. • Air freight meets the specific transport needs of certain sectors and enables the efficient servicing of certain isolated areas. Public data does not provide a sufficiently accurate picture to inform public policy. The premises of the design office, MENSIA conseil, in charge of the research work, will house the SD Box.
