This project examines the relationship between shareholder engagement and firms’ wage-setting practices, with a focus on living wage issues in France. It aims to assess whether and how investor engagement initiatives are associated with tangible changes in employees’ remuneration, beyond stated commitments or disclosures. The analysis relies on quantitative methods applied to a sample of large French firms and uses detailed wage data to study potential changes in pay levels and their distribution across worker groups. Access to individual-level data is essential to capture real wage outcomes and to improve understanding of the material effects of shareholder engagement on working conditions.
