Social pressure and employment contracts
80% of all work contracts are and determined duration contracts. Recent studies have focused on the importance of institutions in this regard, and particularly job perseveration (Cahuc and al, 2015). Yet social norms have not so far been suspected to contribute. Bassanini et al (2015) highlighted the social pressure to downsize, especially in the establishments which are furthest away (geographically) from the head office. We will thus compare establishment to verify if determined duration contracts are more frequent in “far away establishments”.
