The French National Transport Demand Model Project

FLUTRAN
Our project focuses on updating the MODEV transport model, a tool designed to estimate medium- and long-term transport demand in metropolitan France. Organized into four key stages (trip generation, trip distribution, mode choice, and route assignment), MODEV helps forecast trip patterns, network congestion, and infrastructure usage for both passenger transport (road, rail, air) and freight (road, rail, waterways). The update relies on incorporating recent data sources, including the 2019 Mobility Survey (EMP 2019), the Road Freight Transport Survey (TRM), FIDÉLI, and the Statistical Register of Road Vehicles (RSVERO). These will replace older datasets, such as the 2007–2008 National Transport Survey (ENT), to improve insights into current transport trends and dynamics.
