The Commercialisation of New Housing survey was initiated in 1985. After being revised, particularly in terms of the questionnaire and management method, since 2007 it has covered developers' marketing of new housing units intended for sale, regardless of the status of the purchaser (private individual, social landlord or institution). The survey thus makes it possible to trace the development of real estate nationally and sub-nationally. More specifically, the survey provides information on the number of reservations for each real estate program and the price of these reservations. It also provides information on the number of new listings and the stock of new housing units offered for sale, distinguishing between single-family homes and apartments by number of rooms. It thus makes it possible to calculate the time of sale of housing. This survey, distributed quarterly, is mandatory and its scope covers all building permits filed for five or more housing units intended for sale in metropolitan France.
