The Health, Health Care and Insurance Survey - SNDS-PrestationsFines source is the result of matching data from the IRDES Health and Social Protection Survey (ESPS) with data on healthcare consumption from the SNDS at the most detailed level. The ESPS is the reference survey on health, access to care and health coverage in France. Since 1988, it has collected data on health status, health coverage, social situation and health care use. Its objectives are to study the links between health status, access to health services, access to public and private health insurance and individual characteristics, in particular social and economic status. The health care consumption data in the SNDS are national data, the objectives of which are to contribute to better management of the Health Insurance system and health care policies, to improve the quality of care and to provide health care professionals with relevant information on their activity. Cross-referencing of this information makes it possible to conduct analyses on the equity of the health system and to inform public action by participating in the assessment of public policies, such as questions on the complementary universal health coverage (CMU-C), medical deductibles, and named general practitioner.
