Conducted every six years since 1993, the aim of the Survey on Labour Relations and Agreement Negotiations is to understand the dynamics of industrial relations between management, employee representative bodies and employees. It is therefore made up of three sections: "management representative", "staff representative" and "employees".
The panel produced by the REPONSE survey is based on the "management representatives" questionnaire. The first stage aims to establish the profile of those establishments which agreed to respond during the two editions of the survey. The second stage consists of studying their evolution over the years in terms of union representation, industrial relations and salary climate, but also their structural evolution.
The scope of the Response survey covers active establishments in metropolitan France with at least 11 employees in the private sector (excluding agriculture, public administrations, public hospitals, and personal domestic services). Since 2011, the surveys have covered establishments with 11 or more employees, compared with 20 or more previously. These may be standalone companies (known as “single-establishment” companies) or one of several establishments within a company, known as a “multi-establishment” company.
