Adaptation to climate change of farmers and the agrifood supply chain

ADACHAN
Climate change exposes French agriculture to more frequent droughts, heat waves, and late frosts. To adapt to these current and future changes, farmers must adjust their practices or change their crop mix, but their choices also depend on the economic organization of downstream sectors. Agroindustries also adapt to climate change. By mobilizing data from farms and agri-food companies, this project studies how agri-food production chains influence this capacity to adapt. The objective is to analyze the extent to which the agri-food industry cushions or amplifies the costs of climate change on agricultural incomes, and whether their local presence affect the crop relocation process.
