Multiple property ownership of land and real estate: impact on local markets and regulation issues

MULFONC
In a context where the demand for housing is increasing, the confitions for accessing it are stricter, and the possibilities to build more are reducing, the development of multiple property ownership (MPO) merits close scrutiny. While MPO is sometimes designated as a source of tensions in housing markets, the strategies of multiple property owners and their impacts on local markets are still understudied. In this project, we aim to deepen the knowledge on MPO through the analysis of microdata on households and housing ownership. We aim to study precisely the characteristics of multiple property owners, the types of markets they are active in and the strategies they adopt to build and manage their portfolio.
