Authorisation: Statistical Confidentiality Committee
The purpose of the Monthly Outlook Survey in Industry is to provide early information on activity trends in the industry sector, for the purposes of business diagnosis and short-term forecasting. The main topics covered are - activity: business leaders are questioned on the evolution of the sector as a whole, as well as on demand, their cash flow situation, payment times, the evolution of stocks and factors limiting their activity; - employment: business leaders are questioned on the evolution of employment in their company over the last three months, and on their employment forecasts for the next three months; - prices; - their competitive position and delivery times. The scope of the survey covers companies in metropolitan France in the manufacturing and extractive industries, i.e. divisions 08 to 33 of the French classification of activities (NAF Rév. 2) excluding 08,92Z, 09,10Z, 12, 19,10Z, and 30,40Z. The survey is conducted monthly, and additional questions are asked quarterly (in January, April, July and October). The data are therefore disseminated monthly and quarterly.
