Effectiveness of new procedures for accessing health data: an example with a project on Parkinson’s disease

The main objective of this Inserm UMR1018 (Centre de recherche en Epidémiologie et Santé des Populations) project is to identify drugs that are potentially protective against Parkinson’s disease within the framework of a case-control study nested in the National Health Data System (SNDS) and to determine other drugs that may, on the contrary, promote the occurrence of the disease.

The project, which began in May 2019, was approved by the CNIL last October.

Inserm, CNAM and CASD have just finalized and signed the agreement for making NSDS data available for this project. Everything is ready for the project to start on the CASD platform as soon as the data are received.

This example shows a remarkable advance made possible by the new procedures and the willingness of the CNIL and the CNAM to promote research in the field of health.
